MD - Five Ruppert Nurseries employees received the company's annual
honors at a recent corporate function. Achievement Award. The company's top honor was presented to Joel Manspeaker for demonstrating outstanding job execution and high-quality results for the company in 2002. Manspeaker, a Finksburg, Md. native who has been with the Ruppert organization for over eight years, oversees all estimating and preconstruction services for the landscape division. He played an integral part in the company being awarded its largest project to date-a $2 million landscape contract at the Human Genome Sciences headquarters in Rockville, Md. Manspeaker was selected from over 50 employees. Impact Award. This award is given to an employee whose outstanding dedication and contributions make a positive impact on their division for the year. Foreman Oscar Porras of New Market, Md., currently in his first year at Ruppert, was recognized in the landscape division. Porras' strong leadership presence and excellent craftsmanship helped to earn him the honor. Fleet Manager/Safety Director Reid Altavilla of Warrenton, Va., who has been with the company for over seven years, received the Impact Award in the nursery division. Altavilla heads the company's safety operations as well as the security and maintenance of all its equipment. Crewman of the Year. This award is presented to the crewman who demonstrates superior self-motivation and exceptional field production for the year. The recipients were William Cruz, who was named in the nursery division, and Francisco Hernandez, who was chosen in the landscape division. Both Cruz and Hernandez are residents of Gaithersburg, Md. Ruppert
