Laytonsville, MD - Ruppert Nurseries was recently awarded its largest landscape project in its 25-plus years of history. The project, a private residence in Potomac, Md., will involve earthwork, large tree-transplanting and extensive installation of plant material, dry-laid stone walls, bluestone paths and irrigation. This year-long endeavor will require over 15,000 hours of in-house labor, project management and an extensive amount of additional sub-contracted work. "This project will entail the hard work, dedication and commitment of hundreds of people - in the office and in the field," said President Chris Davitt. "We are grateful for the opportunity to provide our services, experience and expertise to a project of this magnitude." Ruppert recently hired two new additions to help spearhead the project, Jim Wachter (project executive) and Leroy Barton (project manager). Wachter (Kensington, Md.) will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of site development, which will include managing surveyors, site excavation, irrigation and seeding subcontractors. Wachter has over 20 years of industry experience in project management and consulting, holds a bachelors degree from West Virginia University and is a certified sediment and erosion control installer. Barton (Monrovia, Md.) will be assisting Wachter and implementing all aspects of site development. He has over 25 years of industry experience in project management and production management. He spent 15 of those years with the Ruppert organization (1983 to 1998). Barton is a certified professional horticulturist and a certified landscape technician. Ruppert Nurseries, Inc. provides commercial landscape installation and landscape management services from its five branch locations in the Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta Metropolitan areas and is also a 475-acre wholesale tree nursery in Montgomery County, MD. |
