Ruppert Nurseries was incorporated in 1990 when brothers Craig and Chris Ruppert, then owners of Ruppert Landscape Company, ventured into the nursery industry by lining out eight acres of nursery stock to help support the demands of the landscape market. Ruppert Landscape (sold in 1998), which provided a wide range of services from Philadelphia to Atlanta including landscape installation, landscape management, construction management, irrigation system installation and maintenance and environmental restoration, was one of the largest and most respected commercial landscape contracting firms in the nation. The foundation of the landscape company, which was known for its cutting-edge management practices and its numerous business management and craftsmanship awards, was carried over to Ruppert Nurseries as owners, managers and tenured employees focused their efforts toward turning Ruppert Nurseries into one of the leading landscape service providers and tree-growers on the East Coast.

Over the past decade, the company has expanded its nursery production by buying additional acreage and increasing the quantity of new plantings each year. In 1996, the property of Fall Creek Farm was purchased and slated to become the company's primary nursery field. In 1999, as the first liner planting matured, Ruppert Nurseries moved its offices to its Laytonsville, Md. location. Additional surrounding land purchases have provided the nursery with over 475 acres for its growing operations. Ruppert Nurseries has grown to become one of the premier large-caliper wholesale tree nurseries on the East Coast and specializes in providing the highest quality stock and professional landscape services available.

Since the inception of the company, Ruppert Nurseries has been providing landscape installation services. Initially, these services were offered to residential and small commercial customers who did not fit the ideal profile of the landscape company. After the sale of Ruppert Landscape Company in 1998, Ruppert Nurseries broadened its customer base and provided installation services to a larger group of commercial clients. August 2003 marked the end of the five-year restriction period that accompanied the sale of Ruppert Landscape, allowing Ruppert to again provide grounds management to its service offerings and enabling customers to benefit from its full scope of experience and expertise.

The management team, many of whom were also leaders at Ruppert Landscape, continues to focus its efforts on making Ruppert Nurseries the landscape service provider of choice for customers and employees, as well as a grower of the highest-quality tree stock. The company continues to dedicate itself to providing exceptional value to its clients and to providing significant opportunities for its employees to grow and prosper.
