Since its inception in 1985, achieving the designation of Maryland CPH has required a combination of work and educational experience. Candidates for certification must further demonstrate proficiency in many aspects of horticulture and pass a rigorous industry-based exam, administered by the Maryland Department of Agriculture.
Certified Arborist is a credential that identifies a professional arborist who has a minimum of three years’ full-time experience working in the professional tree care industry and who have passed an extensive examination covering all facets of arboriculture with topics ranging from tree biology, tree identification and planting techniques to tree risk assessment, pruning concepts and fertilization.
