Stock Standards & Specifications

Ruppert Nurseries normally sells nursery stock that complies with the standards found in the most recent edition of the American Standard for Nursery Stock (ANSI Z60.1), the “Standard”. The principal function of the Standard is to help buyers and sellers of nursery stock communicate with confidence by using a comprehensive and consistent set of measurement and specific nomenclature.

However, in some cases Ruppert Nurseries grows, markets and harvest material that is larger than the sizes covered and the Standard. There are also regional and field specific situations where our 25 years of experience and thousands of trees harvested have shown the best practice may be outside of the guidelines in the Standard. In addition, some varieties are grown utilizing unique pruning and root system manipulation techniques more similar to those used in European countries. In these cases, we use the Standard as a baseline in conjunction with consideration of our own experience, conditions and historically successful practices to determine the best sizes and methods for handling and harvesting our nursery stock.

We are happy to grow and harvest plant material outside of our normal practices for customer specific needs or requests. In some situations, there will be additional charges for these services.
